Malusi Mwongeli
Ghana, 7 weeks.
My experience in Ghana was unlike anything I've ever done in my life. I learnt so much about myself, about my society and about culture as well. It became a period where I fully understood what AIESEC is and the essence of it all.
Ghana was a blast. It was so different; the food (especially), the language, the mannerisms, the weather, the transport system, the education system. Almost everything was out of my comfort zone.
I'd advise anyone who wants to go on exchange to do it NOW.
Hayat Shariff
Rwanda, 8 weeks.
Going on exchange to Rwanda was one of the most amazing experiences. I learnt how to work in a team of different cultures and different characters. Where basically you gain something from each other's cultures. Even the basics of things like a simpler way to peel off the outer skin of garlic. The whole intercultural experience was amazing.
I went to promote ICT among the youth in Rwanda. Them telling us about their country and culture and taking interest to know more about Kenya and the other countries represented was really nice. It was so fulfilling knowing that I had impacted someones life.
On top of that.. touring the country was epic! Meeting new people everyday and going to new places. It was amazing!
And like in any real situation, Things happen and therefore Crisis management is something else I gained from the experience. It was an eye opening experience and definitely life changing.

What we do
Frequently Asked Questions
We are here to help you in any way.
What is AIESEC?
AIESEC is an entirely youth-led not-for-profit organisation present in over 125 countries and territories, and active since 1948.
We provide young people with the opportunity to grow and learn in an exciting new environment, undertaking enriching cross-cultural experiences while having a positive impact on world and developing relevant skills for their future careers.
We do not discriminate and we are non-political. We firmly stand for our own vision for the world: peace and the fulfillment of humankind’s potential.
What does AIESEC stand for?
AIESEC (pronounced eye-sek) was originally an acronym for Association Internationale des Étudiants en Sciences Économiques et Commerciales.
AIESEC is no longer used as an acronym but simply as the name of the organization and it only can be written in capitals.
How does AIESEC Exchange programme differ from other going abroad programmes?
AIESEC does not define itself as provider of internships only. Rather, AIESEC offers you many different opportunities to discover and develop your potential. Although an internship abroad is an essential part of the experience you can gain in AIESEC, it is closely linked to other experiences rather than separated from them. Throughout the program, you will meet and connect with AIESECers from around the world, participate in local AIESEC conferences if they are available, and develop yourself through challenges you face during your internship. As our program is aimed at personal development through connecting with communities and AIESEC chapters abroad, you will get a unique experience with exchange participants who come from all around the world.
What does AIESEC offer students in the Global Citizen programme?
AIESEC offers you a platform to find an internship experience of your choice. The members in the organization provide guidance and assistance throughout the course of your association with AIESEC. The members will ensure you are inducted into the organization, help you search and find the internship experience of your choice, assist you with documents and visa processes, ensure you are fully prepared for the experience in the country you have chosen. The AIESEC host committee, country will guide and assist you once you reach the host country. The host country will make sure of the pickup, accommodation, internship experience and all other networking events with other interns working on the project with you.
What does AIESEC not provide you?
AIESEC does not offer you tailor made internships as a product, that is, it does not provide you a particular internship in a particular country. AIESEC is present in 113 countries in the world and has a number of opportunities for students to choose from. A student enrolling in the Global Citizen programme should be flexible and accommodating with the various internship experiences available in a variety of countries. Every student however, will be given a choice of internships in various countries to choose from before making decision.
Do I need to be fluent in X to go to an X-speaking country?
English is the international language of AIESEC. AIESEC members across the world will speak English, and the English language is the basis of a large number of AIESEC internships. Because of this, proficiency in English is required to be eligible to go on most any AIESEC internship. In Central and South America the majority of internships require proficiency in Spanish. Those in Germany often require proficiency in German. Additional language ability is an added bonus for multilingual applicants.
Do I have any salary if I join AIESEC Global Citizen programme?
